I love this!!! You always make really incredible underground environments. Looking at this I can imagine that glowing radioactive monster just got done chomping down a bunch of rats and homeless people in a nearby subway tunnel and is taking the juicy guts to feed to its radioactie chud baby spawn in some electric green sludge pool.

This blog is turning into the Sean & Aeron show. Yeah, i love the underground worlds... even when i draw outdoor scenes, i end up blocking out the sky usually. I spent hours the other day watching old Filmation cartoons on youtube & was getting into their background colors & styles. He-Man especially has some really awesome backgrounds. Also, if you haven't checked out their Flash Gordon cartoon since it aired, the shit is tight. I immediately remembered watching every episode as a kid.

I was watching some of those old He-Man cartoons the other month, there is some insane shit going down in that show! I love all the completely bizarre characters that pop up out of nowhere and seem completely normal in that cartoon universe. Some giant minotaur demon headed blue alligator thing shows up at Skeletor's door, yeah just some goddamn minion hanging with one of his bros, nothing to worry about! Also, we'll have to find a few more folks to make it more lively around here.

Awesome image, Sean!
It strikes me as a feature of a lot of your work that you often seem to try not to create a sense of depth. Here for example all the stalagtites are the same size no matter how far away from the viewer they are. Same with your SALT image, every thing seems to be on one plane. Is this something you do on purpose or intuitively?

Thanks for noticing! When i started to really concentrate on my work, or rather, be more conscious of it, i was very influenced by medieval paintings where the things that were important were larger & clearer, but perspective & all that weren't important. I'm also influenced alot by set design, so depth is only used if something is importantly far away, then it will be exaggerated. If not, i don't use it. Realism has no place in my work!
